“The Way”

Glimpsing the past in a flash of light.
Drop the veil that clouds the lower mind.
Seeking light in the darkness of my mind.
Running from one thought to the other, never quite making it.
Stopped by a thought, stopped by a deed.
Lost among so many choices, do, don’t, yes, no.

No maybe in a world of black and white.
Yes, there is, it is called grey, oh what a wonderful colour grey can be.
Maybe it isn’t grey, but a lighter shade of black or white.
Why can’t it be red and blue?
Then grey would be light red or light blue or would it be purple?

People in, people out, people stay, enriching my life.
Learning new things, learning to live without, learning to live with.
Is this a dream or our imagination playing tricks with the light?
Something lost, is it lost or just not visual for us to see.
Do I gain or does my perspective change to see what was already there?
How does the caress of soft lips on my lips make it all so real?
Does touching make it real or does the imagination get affirmation of what it knows?

Nothing is lost, only on a different path.
Will the path lead back to that which we seek or onto another?
Why is the way not easy, surely I know the way?
Is the way then not straight from one point to the other?
Do I prefer the scenic route or am I seeking things long forgotten?
I think both, my wish for you is to know that we all choose our way.
We all know how to get there, some like me just take longer.
So wait for me if you get there first, for I will be along soon.
If our paths cross may we be looking up and not down.
For now and again we shouldn’t be concentrating on the way.
For our feet follow the way with conviction so that we can view the scenery.

Blessed are us for we have the choice.
Blessed are us for we have the way.
Blessed are us for travelling on the path.
I will see you at the end of the way on the paths we choose.
