I close my eyes; all I see is your smiling face.
I hold a rose; all I smell is you.
I put a morsel in my mouth; and it reminds me of the times I ate off your plate.
I giggle, the sound is so much like you.
I wrap my arms around me, and it feels like you hugging me.
You were there to kiss my pain away.
You cuddled me when the nightmares kept me awake.
You soothed my head when my temperature was sky rocketing.
You let me drink from your glass and then ordered another.
You smelled like vanilla ice-cream, when you wore your special perfume.
You showed me the world through a lens, and it is so wonderful.
You allowed me the smallest comfort in the world, with you saying, “I love you”.
You taught me that a single word can kick my tickle box over.
You showed strength to go on, gave me the courage to know that I am able to.
You saw the person I have become; I know you watch over me.
I shed a tear when I think of you not being physical anymore.
I know I shouldn’t though there is a tear always nearby.
I miss your physical hugs and cuddles.
I miss holding your hand as we walk side by side.
Mostly I miss you more than these words convey.
I look at the old pictures I have of you.
I listen to the voice messages you left.
I see you in my dreams; they are so full of reality.
I feel you near me; and it comforts me.
I eat vanilla ice-cream just to smell you.
You spread your wings every day, though I never saw them for what they were.
You glowed with the love you shared; little did I know it was more.
You showed me kindness, when I felt there was no more.
You left and I know it wasn’t easy, though you went to where you were needed.
You spread your angel wings one last time, and I knew you were one.
With one last hallelujah, you were home.
An angel who looks like you.
Acknowledgements
To those that aren’t here to read my shared words, I miss you deeply.
To those who share my words thank you.

“Afraid I Am Not”
Music fills my inner child with love.
Sounds of nature ground my earthly child.
Waves crashing on the shore wave to my water child.
Soft wispy winds lift my air child’s wings so easily.
Solar flares call to the dragon in me to soar the universe.
I am not afraid; I am not afraid.
For the things I never said, I wish I had the courage to say them.
I saw the world through your eyes and felt every word come true.
I grew and knew that the world can be kind.
I understand that who I am is enough.
I grew and knew how much I love.
I am not afraid; I am not afraid.
Pour a dream and fill it with peace and love.
Pour a song so full of harmony.
Pour a kiss that will never leave my lips.
Pour a memory full of comfort and compassion.
Pour a drink so warm it will keep the chills away.
I am not afraid; I am not afraid.
Mamma you taught me how to love and filled me with kindness.
Daddy, you taught me that having something small is worth more than anything.
Sis, you taught me that somethings just match, and some don’t.
Brothers, you taught me that blood is always true.
Wife, Girl Friends and Friends, you taught me it is okay to be vulnerable.
I am not afraid; I am not afraid.
You have held my hand with every step I take.
You will never know how much I love you.
You are such good companions.
You have shown me that joy lives in the heart.
You fill me with compassion.
I am not afraid.

“I’ll Get Along”
Thanks for the precious time.
Thanks for teaching me to climb.
Thanks for the crazy times.
Thanks for showing me the world.
Thanks for the soulful sounds.
All I do is smile.
All I do is giggle.
All I do is tickle your fancy.
All I do is smell freshly.
All I do is play you a tune.
For the times I didn’t.
For the times I felt lost.
For the times I snuck away into my shell.
For the times I shied away from things.
For the times I cried for the deep pain inside.
Now is the time for my boundaries.
Now is the time for me.
Now is the hardest time to get along.
Now is the time to remember the small moments of joy.
Now is the time for laughter, joy and comfort.
I didn’t get along.
I did try to get along.
I would have given my tears to get along.
I shall miss those that didn’t get along.
I shall never forget how you tried to get along.
I don’t promise to get along all the time.
I do promise to get along within my boundaries.
I hope that we will get along, with love.
